My story, MY mission
My journey with LIC of India began as a Development officer in August 1988 at Bhandup Branch in Mumbai.After three decades of experience and expertise in Life Insurance sector, my colleagues now fondly call me ‘Guru’.
While that may be true, I credit my success to three of my personal Gurus who’ve helped me get to where I am today.
“Shri Ashok Gokarn” has been my mentor and source of inspiration over the years. He has always driven us to empower our agents.
I carried values of independence, freedom and working as a team throughout my tenure, thanks to him.
Along with these values and experience, I also upskilled by acquiring an Associateship Diploma (Insurance Institute of India, 1995) and soon after became a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). I was the first Development officer in the country to get the CFP certification.
I am also fortunate enough to have undertaken the “MILT Leadership Course” under the mentorship of “Shri Aporesh Acharya”, who taught me to contribute in the lives of others and follow the path of truth, honesty and selflessness amongst other things. In 2003, I decided to start sharing these valuable pieces of wisdom I’d gained over the years with my fellow Development Officers in form of ‘PRERANA’ compilations.
In April 2019, with only 19 months to retirement, I opted for VRS with a Mission to "Enhance the Public Image of LIC Advisors" by Empowering them with Knowledge. Immediately after my VRS, I set out to accomplish my Mission of Empowering Agents. I documented five books under title PRERANA.
I knew that publishing books wasn’t enough. Development officers had to lead and empower their agents to truly change the public image of LIC Advisors. And I knew I had to rally them forward.
Till December 2019, I reached out to my contacts sharing my ideas. That’s when universe conspires and I met Mr. Siddharth Rajsekar, who showed me the optimal way to convey my message to my target audience; through online courses, and it was a win.
I’ve discovered a wealth of knowledge and learnings from my mentors over the years. One key thing they all stressed on was – "To Add Value in the Lives of Others."
I am sure that universe will again conspire and connect me with like-minded Development officers and Agents. The aim is to join hands with them and achieve the mission to “Enhance the Public Image of LIC Advisors"
